the bigger things
some paintings + a mural
I’ve found that starting my paintings off with still life or a sketch of my immediate surroundings has become my way of romanticising the ‘everyday’. From there, I let my creative license take over, making it the driving force while my physical and mental state at the time continues to inform other creative choices.
This painting is my snapshot impression of my living room: a place heavily involved in my artistic journey.
‘from the black leather sofa’ (2025), acrylic on linen.
An experimental painting that borrows contours and textures from the human body to form a somewhat abstract landscape. The idea here is to peer into the physical properties of the human form so deeply that they begin to feel impersonal. A dissonance from one’s own appearance.
‘skin on bone’ (2025), acrylic on wood panel
A response to the expansive collection at the Bournemouth Natural Science Society, interspersed with the rich visual culture of Indian Matchbox art. A university project that explored culture and history through visual media.
‘Reimagined Matchbox Series’ (2024) ink on paper
‘the mural’ (2024)
A commissioned mural in a couple’s home.
